Learning About Natural Menopause Relief

Menopause is a naturally occurring stage of life for all women. Unfortunately, for most women it will enter their lives at about the age of 40 and last somewhere between five and 10 years. These are only averages. There are occasional females starting to enter perimenopause earlier or later. Their age is irrelevant when it comes to suffering from the symptoms.

Not very long ago, when a woman was going through "the change" there was little done to ease their suffering. There was an understanding that it is a naturally occurring bodily function and nothing can be done about it. However, years of research and drug trials have come up with many different methods to ease the symptoms of this time in a woman's life. Yet many of the so-called solutions have also been shown to offer side effects that are unpleasant for women to bear.

Knowing some of the common symptoms of menopause caused by hormonal imbalances, natural menopause relief can be used to help with some of the symptoms. This is in contrast to hormone replacement therapy that has not proven effective without the potential for serious side effects. In fact, the use of artificial hormones has waned over the past few years as more and more women are looking for natural menopause relief options. Menopause medication is used with caution and research.

In the early stages of perimenopause, the symptoms may not be as severe in many women. But the likelihood them becoming more intense is a worry to many. While certain lifestyle changes can help reduce the intensity of some of the symptoms of menopause, also natural menopause relief can reduce the frequency and intensity of many of the symptoms.

Menopause is known to be the process of the body ending the woman's reproductive years and the associated symptoms are caused by the imbalance of hormones. The ovaries are slowly shutting down during perimenopause. It is this process that also ends the production of the hormones that the body has been dependant on for its entire life. There are some foods that contain phyto-estrogens, which have shown to offer relief for a wide range on symptoms. Tofu and soy are two of the most commonly used foods for their natural estrogen content among women in perimenopause.

Symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, depression and trouble sleeping can also be dealt with by using aromatherapy. For instance, lavender is known for having a calming effect and is often used as a natural sleep aid as well as in easing aches and pains. Clary sage is often used in aromatherapy to fight depression and cypress has been known to reduce the intensity of hot flashes.

Transdermal absorption of bio-identical hormones are also widely used  for natural menopause relief for those reluctant to use synthetic chemicals. Reducing hot flashes, night sweats and well as providing help in sleeping, without the need for potentially addicting sleep aids, are some of the natural menopause relief provided by progesterone creams. The application is easy and one application a day can provide prolonged relief from most menopause symptoms.
